Sand Garden
A tactile browser experiment for drawing, raking, and moving through sand.
The idea
I loved the calm, toy-like feeling of interactive digital gardens and wanted to explore that same idea with sand. The first goal was intentionally small: let someone drag a marble or rake through a surface and leave a believable trail.
What I made
I built a stripped-down prototype focused on pointer movement, alignment, trails, rake behavior, texture, lighting, and the illusion of physical displacement. Each pass moved from a functional drawing tool toward something softer, more tactile, and more convincing.
What I learned
Realism is usually the accumulation of small agreements between input, motion, texture, light, and sound. When any one of them is out of sync, the illusion collapses. The project is a good example of how I like to work: isolate one interaction, make it feel right, then expand carefully.
